Perfect for those who want to check the wind before they set out on an outdoor adventure.

Im a sailor whos been using wind forecast apps like this many years as part of my weather forecasting process. All of these apps rely on two major public forecast super computer models, one run by the Canadian government, the other by the United States. One of the best services in the past was Predict Wind, but they charge a LOT of money to get the good stuff (hundreds of dollars) which is still based on these public models, but with their own proprietary tweaking for higher resolution. Sailflow is another wind app thats free, but its got annoying adds, is very buggy and slow, and its interface and graphics are primitive. This app has none of that so far, and its animated wind maps are amazing, combining subtle color coded wind velocity gradations with little animated tell-tales whos number and speed and vector combine with the classic color based speed coding to give a very clear, intuitive sense of predicted wind patterns and intensities. Its actually beautiful in the way it displays this complex quantitative data. Ive studied this field for many years as a design instructor, and have been waiting for the computer programming / graphics world to catch up with the theories developed at Yale in the 1970s and 80s by Edward Tufte and published in a series of masterful books, the most comprehensive of which is titled "The Visual Display of Quantitative Information" a dry title for a richly illustrated book that will change the way you look at everything from newspaper info graphics to apps like this. If only all weather data were presented as elegantly as this app, instead of NOAAs maddeningly difficult to read forecasts typed with cap-lock on, and full of cryptic jargon acronyms, abbreviations, and clipped grammar, or worse, the silly dumbed down, useless forecasts seen in most newspapers!

The UI is intuitive and easy to understand. The forecasts seem to be pretty accurate and is by far the best wind app that I’ve found.

After coming cross windyty.com, I quickly hopped on the app store to see if this was available as an app. I highly recommend this given the clean layout, and easy to understand (and helpful) information. You wont be disappointed. The integrated "Riding Rose" is one of the more interesting location tools for wind. It visualizes suitability for regions in one of the best ways Ive seen. Feature-rich. Looking forward to the chat feature. The best wind app out there.

This is the real tool for any sailor. Intuitive and accurate, it has no parallel as an app geared specifically to marine wind conditions. Super. Even my wife says she loves it.

Needs periodic scrubbing of non-favored spots otherwise excellent & accurate forward views.
